Mill City Productions was pleased to perform "Steel Magnolias" by Robert Harling. Performances took place June 2nd through June 12th, 2011.
“Steel Magnolias” was the last directorial work of the late Mike Grogan, with additional direction by Jackie DeGiorgis. “Steel Magnolias” is set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant Annelle, the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoo and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon Ouiser, an eccentric millionaire Miss Clairee, and the local social leader M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby, is about to get married. The story begins on the morning of Shelby's wedding and covers events over the next three years, including Shelby's decision to have a child despite having Type 1 diabetes and the complications that result from that decision. The cast featured Maureen Elizabeth Goodreau as Clairee, Edy Pye as Ouiser, Courtney A. Shapiro as Truvy, Diane Sprague as M'Lynn, Sam Therrien as Annelle and Liz Urban as Shelby.
