November 2019 Meeting Minutes
Meeting minutes for 11/02/19
In attendance: Jeremy LaCrosse, Gabby West, Marissa Carlson, Kari Daly, Jackie DeGiorgis
Meeting started at 10:40am.
Adams Space -- No updates. Jeremy is planning on just showing up to his office hours to initiate a discussion.
Firehouse Café -- Jackie spoke to Mike Mach and he said we can use the space anytime and at no cost. He said to let him know what dates we’d like. This means that we can consider full-length plays one more; we’ll keep it in mind for a spring staged reading series.
Financial Update -- Gabby filled out the form to get our tax-exempt status back. It cost us $275. After thirty days we can check on our status to see if it’s been reinstated. Jackie got paid from her work on the show at The Whitney; she is donating $300.00 to MCP.
Staged Readings -- Church and State took place on Tuesday, Oct. 29th @ 6pm. Five audience members; an email went out to our list the week before. KD suggested we try re-doing Church and State in the spring at Firehouse. Next (and last) staged reading for the fall is Constellations, Thursday, Nov. 21st @ 6pm. Also, the Adams library is apparently haunted.
Facebook -- No updates. Everything is going well. Marissa will make an event for FB.
Website/Email -- Email blasts have been going out for staged readings. KD will send out email blasts for future meetings as well.
Growing Membership -- Have not been able to collect new emails at staged readings.
Community Collaborations -- Marissa’s mother may have a possible lead on rehearsal space at MASS MoCA. Marissa has been in touch with Peter Glazer (prof. at UC Berkeley) about adapting the novel The Celestials. He will cast for four public readings of the plays as it evolves. Marissa will have more updates by our December meeting.
Spring Staged Reading Series -- We’re considering March/April/May for the spring reading, to give everyone a little bit of a break. Marissa suggested we could with play ideas at the December meeting, along with potential audition dates.
WAM is producing Pipeline through Nov. 9th at the Elayne Bernstein Theater at Shakespeare & Company.
Sam T. is doing Gypsy Lane at HiLO in North Adams tonight at 8pm.
Sand Lake is holding auditions for their yearly short play festival Nov. 7th and 12th.
Next meeting: Dec. 7th.
Meeting adjourned at 11:14am.
